And now it begins...

Well well well it's getting real now!

Today i finished at the Lishkat Hagiyus (recruitment centre)--there we did our medicals, interviews, a small iq style test and also i was able to register as a Chayelet Bodedit (lone soldier). This all took 2 days and they were long let me tell you! A whole heap of sitting around waiting then even more forms. During my interview they were forcing me to speak hebrew but also to read and write it. Well i could read but i had NO idea what i was reading. Not sure how impressed they were.....

Before this; well after camping i was a bit sick. Apparently your body doesn't particularly enjoy swimming in icy cold water numerous times...not entirely sure why. So myself and Daniel spent most of the next few days--except that he had to go to work each day--chilling and sleeping. It was actually quite enjoyable even though we were sick. Watching movies and dozing off. I think i slept more those few days then since i've been here!

I had my volunteer gig at the dog shelter again on last saturday, only difference this time is i took a dog home to shelter for the week. His name is Don, he's very sweet...really a lovely boy. Unfortunatly he's skinny and a bit sick from the shelter, and his social skills are sketchy at the moment. One night i took him to a bar and he was barking at other dogs like he was really going to do some damage. The next night at another bar he was wandering around socialising with the people and playing so sweetly with other dogs. He was quite a hit.  I think he's still stressed from his living conditions and hasn't quite got his stuff together. Actually as i'm writing this he's asleep on the floor...just began to snore. This is cute because usually he doesn't! lucky.

Back to army stuff. I've been buying the things i need which really does the "OH MY GOD, THIS IS HAPPENING" thing. Especially when i got the dog tag holder (the army gives you a chain but apparently everyone goes and gets a cover...i suppose cold metal on your neck isn't the nicest.

Still i have to find a big 90L bag, a big pocket knife thingy and a couple of other things. Nir thinks that i can borrow from people here. So here's hoping!

Right now i'm off to meet up with Yiska. We were in Betar together years ago.

Update again soon!

Lots of love, Louise
